How much should you pay ?

I have been earning my living carrying out search engine optimisation since 2001 and it still amazes me how much some SEO Companies charge.

Because a lot of Search Engine Optimisation Companies charge ridiculous prices I quite often get asked by prospective clients: why are you so cheap ?

What you should be asking yourself is: why do SEO Companies charge so much ?

Ok, I can appreciate that some companies have bigger overheads than other companies, for instance, I work from home, do not employ anyone, so do not have any overheads as such. Where as other SEO Companies rent premises, employ loads of people to cold call small businesses, pay salaries etc. etc. But the difference in pricing for the exact same service is unbelievable.

I had an enquiry the other day from someone who said that they had a £15,000 budget for SEO ! Blimey, I nearly fell off my chair, how on earth did they estimate that amount for SEO work ? and this did not include a new website, this was purely for SEO.

I can only assume that this is the kind of price they had seen SEO Companies charging.

The fact is that you will generate the maximum number of visitors to your website from top positions on Google, no other form of visitor generation will produce the same volume.

That's what you should be looking for: the maximum number of top positions on Google.

There are no legitimate shortcuts to achieving top positions on Google, each SEO Company has to implement the same procedures to achieve them, so whether you pay £15,000 or £300 for them, it's up to you, but I would recommend that you shop around and find out exactly what you are going to be getting for your money.
