Keyword Density
I sometimes get asked by clients about their websites keyword density. This is the number of times a keyword is mentioned within the body text of a web page.
One of the places that Google looks for searched keywords is within the text on a website page. Your targeted keywords need to appear somewhere
within your web page content.
Keyword Density relates to the number of times your keyword is mentioned in proportion with other words on the website page.
As I have have stated before, search engine optimisation is not an exact science.
You only need to check the Google results to confirm this.
Search Google with the keyword Loans then check how many time the word Loans appears on the number 1 result. You can do this by
clicking on the Cached link next to the result. The word Loans will be highlighted. My number 1 result has the word Loans mentioned about 20 times.
Now check another result, my number 8 result has the word Loans mentioned about 35 times on a page with approx the same word count so in theory it should
appear above the number 1 result, but it does not.
I would not place too much importance on keyword density, as long as your targeted keyword appears within the text of your web page 5 or 6 times
this should be enough.
